this is what is my rough calculation.

$10.00 per pack of cigarette, if you smoke pack a day, (say 30days) that’s $300.00 per month, if you smoke 2 pack a day, that’s $600.00 are you really able to afford that?

This is what I heard this morning on news. and I say I’m glad I already switched my cigarette smoking to blu electronic cigarette.

New York plans a $1.60 increase per pack in the cigarette tax, making it the nation’s highest, as well a long-delayed plan to crack down on the sale of cigarettes by tribes to non-Indians, according to a bill Gov. David Paterson’s administration announced late Friday.

The plan also includes raising the tax on chewing tobacco, cigars, pipe tobacco and other tobacco products. The tax would increase to 75 percent of the wholesale price of those products, from 46 percent now.

New York state Budget Director Robert Megna said specifics are still being negotiated with legislative leaders and tribes in New York, but higher tobacco taxes will be part of an emergency spending bill Monday.

New York state’s current cigarette tax is $2.75 a pack. A $4.35-per pack tax would surpass even Rhode Island’s tax of $3.46 per pack and $3 per pack in the state of Washington, according to the American Cancer Society.

That means, if cigarette price goes probably over $10 a pack.
if you are smoking pack a day, 30days, comes at least $200.00 per month for just 30 packs of cigarette!!!
now it’s just crazy price to pay for…..

I was just searching around even more about tabacco tax and also smoking bans, and also anufactures raising the price as well! well that’s stressful for most of smokers out there.

see state government raises tax = we pay more

manufactures raises price = we pay more

we are alway paying more and more and get paid not enough to support the habit! . I think lot things are same way, we work hard, and keep working hard.

reason I switched to electronic cigarette is, I was planning to quit, like every new year promises… but there is no way I can just cut it with patch or gum or hypnotized…. oh yeah recently my friend was hypnotized to quit smoking. I think it was back in jan. you know what he started to smoking again like last week!  I know it’s all in the will power, and also slowly reducing the nicotine level,  (some might say there is medical facts addiction etc, but this is my way of thinking) then just cut all at once. I done cold turkey before didn’t help, evene patch, I was still smoking wiht patch….
